Acceptable Use Policy

1. Introduction

This Acceptable Use Policy ("AUP") governs your use of GuestLoop and defines prohibited activities. By using GuestLoop, you agree to comply with this policy. Violations may result in account suspension or termination.

This policy applies to all users, including property owners, team members, and anyone accessing GuestLoop services.

2. Prohibited Activities

You may NOT use GuestLoop to:

2.1 Illegal Activities

  • Violate any local, state, national, or international laws or regulations
  • Engage in fraud, deception, or misrepresentation
  • Infringe on intellectual property rights (copyright, trademark, patents)
  • Distribute illegal content or promote illegal activities
  • Engage in money laundering or terrorist financing
  • Violate export control laws or sanctions

2.2 Spam and Unsolicited Communications

  • Send unsolicited commercial emails (spam) in violation of CAN-SPAM Act
  • Send unsolicited SMS messages in violation of TCPA regulations
  • Contact individuals who have not provided express consent
  • Ignore unsubscribe requests or opt-out preferences
  • Purchase, rent, or share email/phone lists from third parties
  • Use deceptive subject lines or sender information
  • Send bulk messages to non-guest contacts

2.3 Harmful or Offensive Content

  • Distribute malware, viruses, worms, or other malicious code
  • Send content containing hate speech, harassment, or discrimination
  • Share violent, graphic, or disturbing content
  • Distribute sexual or adult content to minors
  • Engage in cyberbullying, threats, or intimidation
  • Impersonate others or misrepresent your identity

2.4 Security and System Integrity

  • Attempt to gain unauthorized access to GuestLoop systems or user accounts
  • Circumvent security measures or authentication mechanisms
  • Conduct security testing (penetration testing, vulnerability scanning) without permission
  • Use automated tools (bots, scrapers) to access the service
  • Overload our systems (DDoS attacks, excessive API calls)
  • Reverse engineer, decompile, or disassemble our software
  • Share your account credentials with others

2.5 Data Collection and Privacy Violations

  • Collect personal information without consent
  • Violate guest privacy rights or data protection laws (GDPR, CCPA)
  • Share guest data with third parties without authorization
  • Use guest data for purposes other than property management and communication
  • Sell, rent, or trade guest contact information
  • Scrape or harvest data from GuestLoop or public guidebooks

2.6 Service Abuse

  • Create multiple accounts to circumvent plan limits
  • Use the service for purposes other than vacation rental management
  • Resell or sublicense GuestLoop services without permission
  • Create fake properties or guest profiles
  • Manipulate analytics or engagement metrics
  • Abuse free trials by creating multiple accounts

3. Email Marketing Compliance

When using GuestLoop to send marketing emails, you MUST comply with:

CAN-SPAM Act (United States)

  • ✅ Include accurate "From" and "To" information
  • ✅ Use honest subject lines (no deceptive headers)
  • ✅ Identify the message as an advertisement (if applicable)
  • ✅ Include your physical business address
  • ✅ Provide a clear and easy unsubscribe mechanism
  • ✅ Honor opt-out requests within 10 business days
  • ✅ Monitor what others are doing on your behalf (if applicable)

GDPR (European Union)

  • Obtain explicit consent before sending marketing emails to EU residents

  • Obtain express or implied consent before sending commercial emails
  • Include identification information (who you are, contact info)
  • Provide an unsubscribe mechanism in every message

4. SMS Marketing Compliance

When using GuestLoop to send SMS messages, you MUST comply with:

TCPA (Telephone Consumer Protection Act)

  • ✅ Obtain prior express written consent before sending promotional SMS
  • ✅ Clearly disclose that consent is not required to purchase goods/services
  • ✅ Provide opt-out instructions in every message (e.g., "Reply STOP to unsubscribe")
  • ✅ Honor opt-out requests immediately
  • ✅ Do not send messages to numbers on the National Do Not Call Registry
  • ✅ Only send messages during appropriate hours (8 AM - 9 PM local time)

Best Practices

  • Keep messages concise and relevant

5. Fair Use and Service Limits

To ensure quality service for all users, we enforce the following limits:

SMS Sending Limits

  • Growth Plan: 100 SMS per month
  • Business Plan: 300 SMS per month
  • Enterprise Plan: 1,000 SMS per month
  • • Additional SMS available at $0.02-0.04 per message

Email Sending

  • • Unlimited email campaigns to your guests
  • • Rate limit: 10,000 emails per hour (to prevent spam)
  • • Bounces and spam complaints monitored

API Usage

  • • Rate limit: 100 requests per minute
  • • Excessive usage may result in temporary throttling

Storage

  • • Unlimited guests and bookings
  • • Image uploads: 10 MB per file, 100 files per property

6. Consequences of Violations

Violations of this Acceptable Use Policy may result in:

7. Reporting Violations

If you believe someone is violating this Acceptable Use Policy, please report it to us:

9. Updates to This Policy

We may update this Acceptable Use Policy from time to time. Material changes will be communicated via email and posted on this page with a new "Last Updated" date. Continued use of GuestLoop after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
